What's it all about?

In 1967, after the 6 day war, Israel took control of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It also criminalised public displays of the Palestinian flags. During this time, the symbols of the watermelon featuring red, white, green and black of the Palestinian flag, were used as a means to circumvent the restrictions. As the fruit naturally grows in the region, protestors also had easy access to them and would therefore carry slices during demonstrations. 

The ban of the Palestinian flag was later lifted after the signing of a series of interim peace agreements called the Oslo Accords in 1993 but the symbol remained and is still used today.

How does the purchase of this bag help the people of Gaza?

The bag itself costs £7, £3.50 is its cost price and the balance after card fees have been deducted goes to Medical Aid Palestine who are on the ground working with those injured, however we are constantly reviewing which charity has best access to the people of Gaza as our key objective is to get financial aid reliably to the people of Gaza.
